Collecting parts for full-fendered Model A for my dad and I to share. I have a complete '40 front end...but I think getting a disc brake kit would make it safer for my folks to cruise in. I also have a set of '40 Ford 16s (4.5" wide I think) which I would like to run with 6.00x16s in the front. Sooo, besides the costly So-Cal Buick disc set-up, what are my options for a disc brake set-up that will accomodate stock '40 Ford wheels.

I see that Speedway sells a 5x5.5 bolt pattern disc kit, #91031909, but I don't know if '40 Ford wheels meet these requirements: "Wheels must have 3 7/16" center hole and have been designed for disc brake applications." Does anyone know?

Also the RealHotRod R&C project comes with Wilwood front discs and '40 Ford wheels...does anyone know the specifics of that set-up? Any help, especially part #'s would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

I have looked at the same speedway kit and had the same questions. Hope someone will have an answer.

The Speedway kit will work with the 16's with no problem. With the 15" 60 model truck wheels you have to use a 1/4" spacer to clear the caliper. The center register on the rotor is pretty deep so you can use the spacers without any problems.
Hope this helps.
