ok, I tried searching for something like this but didn't find what I was after. I'm looking to save money here but don't want crappy parts, which is why I worry when I look at the kits they sell from speedway ( LINK (http://www.speedwaymotors.com/product.ASP?wc=true&strBase_List=&hilt=&source=219 2&base_no=2559000&str_base_no=000%2DCATALOG+STREET %2C2559000%2C4131010%2C58211%2C582C500%2C582SM400% 2C91034110%2C91034200%2C91034202%2C91034304%2C9103 4307%2C91034310%2C91034310%2D2%2C91034314%2C910343 15%2C91034316%2C91034317%2C91034318%2C91034319%2C9 1034320%2C&header_title=Street+Rod+Products%2DMust ang+II+Suspension&page_name=prod%5Flist%5Fdisplay% 2Easp&search_type=L2%7E362&search_option=&deptsear ch=&dept_id=L2%7E362&dept_id_p=&dept_name=&dept_na me_p=Street+Rod+Products&ShowImages=yes&sq=0&cont= 1&intPgNo=1&redirect=) ) They are priced almost a $100 lower than Carrera (http://www.carrerashocks.com/MustangII%20Coilovers.htm) or QA1 (http://www.naake.com/mustangII.html) . Are they shitty chinese parts or does speedway just have a better line on where to get things. These are the last things I need to buy before the chassis comes down off the jackstands, but I don't want to rush it and pay for a crappy shock that would have to be replaced in 500 miles.
also, does anyone know where I can get the spring in painted or powdercoated, nobody will see it so I don't want to pay for chrome. Or even bare steel, and if they come in bare steel, what would be a good paint to use on a spring? something that won't crack from movement.

why run coilovers on a MII ? i dont see any advantage, #1 you dont see them on a fat fender/shoe box #2 a good set of coils are a lot cheaper so...I have coil springs on my 37 they have a multitude of spring rates just contact any MMII dealer and they can help with what you need.also they'll recomend proper paint

i'm not trying to harp on your reply here, but i've had several of my posts requesting this type of info replied to in this fashion and I'm sick of it. I am using coilover shocks on the front because its my truck and I want too. Think of me as an idiot if you want then. again, sorry to come down on you, but for a site with a bunch of people customizing cars, I've been told to use the stock setup or to use what I got one to many times.

YG50C,
This is a TRADITIONAL Rod & Custom board and coil-overs on a 50 Chevy ain't traditional so you aren't going to get people going out of their way to do anything other than tell you what I and the guy above have told you.
If you don't like the suggested answers here, go find a BILLET BOARD!

let me apologize for not thinking about this being a traditional board. I'm sorry for the negative comments I made and will take future problems about non-traditional issues to more appropriate forums letting you guys live in your traditional hot rod world.

I have Alden coil overs on the rear of my Model A. They are the "economy" painted not Polished aluminum ones. The rear end id a Datsun 240Z IRS with the struts cut off and upper control arms fabbed. I made a longer lower arm shaft to pick up the shock at the bottom since it doesn't have the strut coil anymore.

The ones you posted a link to are identical to the carerras I have, right down to the 500# springs and saying "hypercharged" along the top. They are only $20 less than I paid for my QA1 12 way adjustable kit, so I think you just need to shop around a little more.

FWIW: I like the QA1 setup MUCH better than the carerras, but they're on a street racer, so I need the adjustability.
