I mean teminal ill cancer seems more like it. /so much rust that some panels have seperated or have gone away.I am debating on getting rig of my 59 el camino or fix it. Most likely fix it do to the rareness of the car. I am just a little discourages at the moment. Need some input.

That all depends...if panels are separating on a 1990 GEO...junk it...

A '59 Elky? That's a different story...it all depends on rarity, worth of labor, and cost of materials. How much do YOU cost? What is your time worth? Sheetmetal and mig wire are cheap. Make sure the frame is sound. That requires even MORE work.

I'd keep it, if I were so inclined... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I would say that if it is so bad that it affects the structural integrity of the car, then you gotta let it go.

If you have a more or less solid frame, the body can be repaired. It can be very expensive and time consuming. And availability of donor parts is a consideration.

I sell alot of rust free bodies to guys in the rust zones so they can rebody their cars. Its actually cheaper than repairing the rust.
I've seen some very rusted cars repaired, but if youre not doing the work yourself, I'd seriously consider another option..
