Sorry these pictures are not better but there was too much stuff in the way. This car is all fiberglass and has the running gear out of a 46 - 48 Ford car - flathead, closed driveline, etc - SW gauges - boat (?) windshield, homemade seats. May have been featured, pictured, or in an ad in 1962 Hot Rod or Car Craft. The guy I work with owns this car and would like to find out more info. Any help would be appreciated...Tom

Glaspar (the boat folks) sold a 'glass sports car body in the 40's. In fact, I believe they were the first to do so. It was similar to that one but not exactly the same.

Here's the best photo I could find. The white car on the right is a Glaspar. The grille was unique to that brand.

Interesting...I had not thought about it actually being from the 40's though it does have the 40's drivetrain...Tom

Kind of looks like one of the Victress glass bodies.I'll check an old car mag to be sure.

looks alot like the Meteor SR-1 made in the 50s. They were made in Denver, Co. Had 100" wheel base, cost for complete body 775.00

I think it's actually a La Dawri. They made that body style and a fastback like this. My auto shop class had a fastback one donated to the school.

Tom....

Have you verified what car this is yet? I may be able to help. I have several brochures for Victress, LaDawri, Meteor, and other cars too.

Can you e-mail me at geoffrey@grhacker.com and I'll send you what I have - if you are still interested.

Thanks and hope to hear from you.

Pretty confident that is not a Glaspar. A long time friend of mine has a Glaspar he races SCCA. He got it from his old man, my next door neighbor when I was a kid. I watched him pull the Olds Rocket motor with tri-power out and throw it in the alley to replace it with a 289 Ford.

Anyway the doors and windshield frame are much nicer on the car in question, The Glaspar doors look cut out of the body like a Cobra and the windshield frame on a Glaspar looks like a windscreen from one of thier boats.

Maybe a Woodson or Woodhill or something like that.

I like it!

Don't know what the glass car is but I like the shapes of things around it. Can we come and help dig those out of the way so you can get better shots?

Damn it's hard to tell. A shot of the grill opening would help. It kind of looks like an Allied roadster body. The Allied coupe was a copy of the Cisitalia 202 and the roadster was based on that. They made them in two sizes, small and large. A large would fit a Ford chassis. I know a guy with a Coupe on a 46 Ford chassis. Some info here.

Here's a pic of a roadster on an MG chassis.
