Show me some pictures of chopped/channelled Model A sedans.................I've got the will to finish mine now, and need a little kick in the ass to get me started.

I found a guy up the road willing to trade me a stocker Model A frame, complete rolling chassis, along with a Merc Flathead V8 and a Chevy 283 V8 for my goldchainer frame (he wants to build his wife a street rod coupe thats gentle on her ass)

I'll need the tech help on doing the Suicide front end, the brakes, and some steering questions...but that can come later......Mine probably wont have a roof or glass for a while either........

POST UP!!

For detailed pics on the Green A (and others) surf through D.Lindsay's site ... some of the highest quality pics on the net (click the 'original uploaded photo option' when available ... high speed 'net required!)

Hot Rods (http://public.fotki.com/wackydave/cars_-_various_themes/hot_rods/)

Specifically the folders ... 'Old School & Primer Rods' and 'Ford Model A's 1928-31'

There are lotsa detail shots in & out. The car was offered on eBay, no takers if I remember right. It was also featured in Street Rodder last year some time .... oh ya ... built by a Brit!

My StarPhoto site may have some additional pics of other cars .... though most came from the HAMB, SoCalCarCulture...

Congrats on getting the stocker Model A frame... I'm glad you are going to hang onto the Sedan! That will make a great car.

Let me know if you want to get rid of that stock Model A Axle and Model A perches when you souicide a dropped axle out front and get that thing REALLY down in the weeds!!

They're only called death rods if you talking to...oh never mind.
We're gonna coin a new phrase for yours Hardcore. You're gonna build a Hotrod from Hell .
Man bro, I'm sure glad to see you go back after it. You've got a lot to start with. If you'd have sold it you would have never forgiven yourself.
Good healthy chop, mild channel(3-4") and a big kick on both ends.
Better make up a wish list. And let us have it.

For anyone who hasn't checked out the "hot rod" link in laverda's post, it is well worth your time. There is a ton of pix of every thing possible. Customs, hot rods, models, station wagons, it has it all.
Thanks, laverda, great link.

Guys, thanks for the great pics & links!

This shit really gets my blood boiling...I've got a few buddies down here now that are willing to start the build-up of this car. I'm selling my Mazda RX-7 (aka my baby), along with the tax return coming soon, so I can fund the required shit to get her on the road.

I've pretty much decided upon these things...

5" Channel, 5" chop, No roof, plexi-windows, piece of glass for the windshield, no frame. VW low-back seats, sheetmetal/street sign floorboard, junkyard taillights. I sold my headlights & stands, but I'll get some at a swapmeet or something. Needs a column/wheel, prolly a junkyard deal there. 4" dropped axle, suicide up front with juice brakes, hairpin rods, f1 steering box, gasser et wheels on these old(but new) bias skinnies i've got laying around. cheater whitewalls out back on steelies. i'll run the 283 ugly as can be in all its glory backed with the 'glide and mated to the '57 chevy rear. I've got a bad ass Aluminum driveshaft from a pickup that i'll cut down and use.

I think this setup will be nice, and i'm sure lots of things will change along the way. I just want a bare bones reliable driver. pretty shit never appealed to me, so why worry about making it pretty? stay tuned for future progress...

Yeah Laverda, that's a great photo link
Been 35 or 40 years since I first saw one of those little brass tags that says "Meyer Drake Engineering Co Los Angeles"
And it still gets my heart started every time.

I have seen the light!!! That is what the 33 Chrysler will become..Damn, its a 4dr though, with suicide doors. I gotta build this car because its different. The dual windshields is the best part.. Maybe I should change my handle to desertdeathrodder.. I really like that look..

Man, I'm starting to hate that photo. The fucking welds hadn't even cooled off yet.

...and yeah, I think 'death rods' must be appropriate.

It's fucking irritating to always hear
'that thing's a coffin car'
'you gonna bring the death beast over'
'what's up with the munstermobile'
and
'jessie james must have something to do with this'

Blech.

It makes those days when I hear
'cheap, minimal, and fast - just like we used to do 'em'
all that much more meaningful.
