Thanks for the songs.

This applies to the message board. My wife and I visited his place in Hendersonville in 92, in the museum I discovered the "One Piece at a time" Caddy actually does exsist. It is alot like the song. One thing the song left out was the brown vynal top on the black paint.

Im not one to get to upset when someone dies...just my makeup I guess, but oddly enough this hit home a little.

amazes how a man you've never met can have such impact on your life and your attitudes when listening to them. It truely amazes me all the work he put out when he was sick, and that he continued to expand his musical depth to include newer artists songs, but his own personality added to them.

RIP Johnn Cash, but you'll never die.

I was sitting on the can when my wife told me. Dang it I'm heartbroken. Now the only one left of the Sun rockabillies is Jerry Lee Lewis.
I can say that I'm lucky I got to see him and June Carter play. It was a good show, Johnny's voice was breaking but the spark was still there.
I guess I've still got Skinny McGee to listen to when I need a touch of his amazing voice channelled thru a young 'un.

Johnny will be missed, i remember when i was little, my mom telling me stories about him while she was washing dishes, we were listening to him on an AM radio that was sitting on top of the icebox. She told me how he was hooked on drugs, but he was a real kind hearted person and a "down home" kind of guy, which then made him not seem so bad. She was a fan... i turned out to be one too.

We always hope for a second wind, but I guess June's leaving took all of his breath. I was expecting him to be back in the studio sometime soon. I, like all of you, will greatly miss his exceptional talent. It's hard to put into words how much his music influenced so many people. I remember an aquaintance of mine pulled up in his 34 Dodge rocking out to I Walk The Line, and I thought how appropriate for such a kool truck.

Johnny you're goin' down Jackson, save a seat for us all.

This is devastating news to me. As I write my wife is crying her eyes out in the bed room. Johnny Cash has not only ment so much to me and my wife but to her dad as well many others. Even my unborn son. My son Hank has already chosen Johnny Cash as his favorite musician. His favorite song appears to be "get rythym" which is odd because it isn't the favorite of me or my wifes. Whenever he hears it he goes crazy in the womb. It is facinating to me because we listen to so much music and he has chosen for himself the same favorite that we all have as well. Today is my father in laws birthday and he is going to find out that his favorite musician since childhood has passed. It doesn't matter that I knew it was coming as Johnny has been getting older and that he has not been healthy. The man has made an impact on many lives and him dying is losing something that is totally unreplaceable. Johnny has made me take a different look at life and how it should be lived. I was really not happy that he only recieved one award for his video on the mtv music awards out of six nominations. That was a travesty. But regardless, Mr Cash represented what was good about this fucked up world. About things like compassion, forgiveness, awareness, love of god and countless other things. His insite on life was invaluable. God bless you Mr. Cash. You will be greatly missed. I am happy for you to be able to see june again. You both have touched our lives. My wife and I were sitting in Heathrow waiting for a connecting flight. I see this old guy walking towards us all dressed in black. He's was all alone. I said "Hey, that looks like Johnny Cash, Naw, can't be. He'd have people with him..." The guy goes into a tie shop as our flight gets called. We got on the plane and I noticed that the curtains to first class were already closed. I thought it was odd. After we took off, the captain came on the overhead saying "I'd like to welcome our VIP's to Ireland". That's all he said. My wife's dad picks us up at Dublin airport. while driving away he says, "Guess who's in town!"

DAMN! I was 20 feet away and wuss'd out of the chance of a lifetime! I've been kicking myself ever since.

This is a loss that extends beyond music...it affects American culture as a whole. Johnny was a true original that played by nobody's rules but his own.

I was listening to his Sun recordings earlier while I was on the road. Strangely enough, I got up and was on the highway this morning before I heard anything about this, but as I was getting dressed to leave, I felt a bit compelled to put on a black shirt...now I'm glad I did.

Anyone else picturing the concert that's happenin' somewhere beyond tonight? Ya just know, now that they're back together, Johnny and June are gonna tear it up!! "We got married in a fever..."

I felt strange all day because of J.R.C.'s passing. Kind of a weird and uneasy feeling. I left work and went to the beer distributor and then went home. The first thing I did was grab a Cash CD and go to the garage. I sat there and drank beer and listened to the Man. You know what? I actually felt better. The enjoyment that he brought was just unreal. he stepped to the working man, dissed the establishment, and still had a sense of humor.

The wife unit came home to find me in the garage, half in the bag and diggin' out to some J.C. She wasn't pissed that I didn't cut the grass or do the dishes, she got inot it with me.

I am sad for the loss. But we celebrated by drinking, dancing, and appreciating what J.C. did for us and music. I am no longer depressed. J.C. was great and I think he should be celebrated, not mourned...well it's the same thing only different http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Even in a time of distress, he still brings out the best and worse of me...J.C. is clutch and always will be.

My Dad always loved old country music, especially Mr. Cash. I remember on Saturday evenings my Dad would fire up the old console stereo and stack up some records and they'd play all evening. Johnny Cash was in the stack every time. Lost my Pops about six years ago, and every time I hear J.C. it reminds me of him.

About three years ago, I was working at an upholstery shop as an apprentice. Unfortunately the shop had alot of problems so my job there was short lived. My boss had a wide taste of music. He liked everything from punk rock to rap to country. J.C. was his favorite, so many an afternoon we had him playing in the shop. It sure made cutting hundreds of strips for tuck 'n' roll not seem like such a long boring job and the time passed quickly!

We've lost alot of great folks lately, bummer! Sam Phillips just a short time ago, and now Johnny Cash. I guess that makes Jerry Lee the sole survivor of the old Sun Records days.

Vaya con Dios, Mr. Cash, y Gracias!

An outlaw like no other. A man of substance and simplicity passed thru this mortal coil today, leaving us and this place all the better for his being here. His was a road of his own choosing and he never whined about nothin.
He didn't always sing in tune, he wasn't always sober, and he made a few fuckups now and again and THAT is why he was what he was to people like us. A regular guy, a no bullshit guy, a non conformist who told it the way he saw it.
THANK YOU JOHN CASH. GOD SPEED. PLAY ON.

Here's a little peom I wrote when June Carter cash passed away, I hope they are reading it together now.
Subject-A TRIBUTE TO A SPECIAL LADY.
Date- Friday, May 16, 2003 at 23:45:42 (PDT)

Johnny Cash was a very lucky man,
Without June Carter he would have been an also ran.
She pulled him out of the gutter and got him on track,
And that's how he became the Man in Black.

He was run out of Utah around 1962,
He had no idea were he was going or what he would do.
He was headed down hill and was ready to crash,
He would never have made it without June Carter Cash.

When she came into his live his world turned around,
And together they made an unforgettable sound.
The Carter family stood by their side,
And the rest is history, they went for one hell of a ride.

They say there's a woman behind every successful man,
June Carter Cash made a star out of an also ran.
We want to thank you June for all you have done,
It was you that made the Man in Black number one.

Rest in peace, You were truly a lady.

See Ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a safe journey Johnny and June.
You will be missed by millions.
