I got the numbers off my block. The number on the block was on the drivers side in the open. The number is c1de-8015-A .
So does this mean that the motor is a 1961 170? Thanks Nate

Hey Nate.. I have an old Motors Manual that has more info..
First off, you car could have a 144 or a 170. To see what your car was made with, go to the # plate on the driver door. The engine code is the last letter in the serial number on the vehicle warranty plate. S is a 144, U is a 170.
What are the chances its not the original motor?? Pretty good.
The 144 is a whopping 85 Hp, 3.500 Bore X 2.50 stroke
The 170 is a whole 101 Hp, 3.500 bore X 2.93 stroke
A later 200 is about 120 Hp.
A 289 or 302 starts in a about 200 Hp stock.
These 6 cyls are not cheap to rebuild, and are known for cracking heads. I would try to find a 200, and rebuild it or find a good runner and swap it out. I know the cars rust out but the motors dont. You should be able to find a runner out of a junkyard for 300 or less.
