I got the A frame Z'd this weekend and was makeing some side plates to weld along the Z for strength when I started questioning the thickness of it. The frame is about 1/8 inch thick and I used some 2X3 above the frame for the step up.
I was makeing my plates out of some 1/8 plate because I had some.Should I use something thicker or will 1/8 inch be enough.
I know alot of guys don't even do this or make the diamond shape fishplates over the spots where the frame is joined together but I'll feel better about it if I do.
What thickness do most of you guys use?
Will 1/8 inch be O.K.
I thought I would check before I start welding and I do know from reading the HAMB not to weld the vertical ends.
