Well, I've gotten on this sucker slowly, trying to make up for the fuck up and time I've wasted on my galaxie. I sold it, and surprisingly got 900 bucks for it on Ebay.

We had already tugged flathead out of the car a few months ago, so I just went about cleaning it up. It's amazing the amount of dirt and filth that builds up under a car. I must have spent hours under the car wire wheeling and pressure washing the front suspension and brake hubs... you couldn't even see the goddamn bolts, it was under 3 inches of crap. It's pretty much cleaned up, and I nailed the front frame with that Rustolem Hammered Finished paint. Stuffs pretty awesome... gives a nice, light gloss to the frame but goes on thick so you can cheat and leave some of the grease on there.

The block is a 283 that came out of a '57 Chevy, and with just some stripper and paint it looks brand new. I got it for 100 bucks, so I'm not taking the time to tear it apart... just going to run it till it blows, hoping when it does I'll have the 327 block in the garage running. I don;t have a tranny for the moment... I've got a powerglide, but I don't know if I want to use it. Any opinions on 'em?

Nice to see it actually in the car. As for the question... look at the last image I've posted. Anyone have any idea what bumper that's from. Bought it from an old man out here, thinking it might look sweet for a more custom look on my car. Just curious if anyone knows what it's off of.

The front there.... suprisingly, the sucker just dropped right in. The horseshot type motor mount worked perfect, and all I've had to do is unbolt my tranmission crossmember and slide it back about 2 inches. The firewall cleared fine.

And.. the bumper. I think I'd look nice with that bumper and a '55 Plymouth grill...

its lookin pretty good, hows about some side and back shots eh?

glides work just fine, 2 gears... so depending on the gearing in the rear it could be equivalent to a 4:11 on the freeway... at least thats how it is in my suburban

Wow, Mai... it didn't look THAT big when I held it up to the bumper. That does look a little funny... might have to rework it. It's just idea... got it for like 5 bucks. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

looks like youd have to section the bumper a bit to make it fit right on the front end ...but the grill piece looks pretty right with the o.g. bumper

It is a 55 New Yorker. If you decide not to use it and sell let me know I may be interested. Here is one in my Ford
