just wanted to tell everyone{for my own sake}my dad was diagnosed with a very rare stomach tumor which was removed about three weeks ago.so rare in fact, doctors are still researching how to treat his post surgical recovery.in the mean time,he has been selected to partake in a study group where they will treat him for free and monitor his results closely.this was a godsent for my family, the medicine alone{something called gleevac}cost about 25 grand a year!.well, now comes the good news.as some may or maynot have noticed,i've been absent for a while dealing with this, when curly calls yesterday and says he's got a free day with no school hasseles, and wants to get his hands dirty.needless to say,my dad was more than eager to do something to feel normal again,so he,curly, and i were in my garage till 2am last night putting the entire rear suspension in my 27!it was so cool to see my dad back to normal.hopefully curly will bring his digital camera over to take pics soon,i'm eager to show you guys the progress....and curl,if you reading this........thank you.

Congrats. You got a second chance, something lots of us haven't gotten, so take full advantage of it. I'm happy for you and jealous at the same time. Enjoy your dad and learn from him, he's the only one you'll get.

Cool! Spend all the time you can with him. I lost my Mom to cancer last month. I was lucky enough to have some good time with her. I just spent most of the weekend workin on our wood boat project with my Dad. It doesn't get much better.

All right http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. Thats one of the best things I have read on here in a while. I know how important it is to hang out with my son, so I'm sure Dad was feeling real good to be hanging with you guys doing what you all love so much.

Gleevec is a very unique product produced by Novartis Pharmaceuticals. In fact, its so unique, the FDA has made special exception to it in terms of approval.
If your Dad has to purchase this product, some pharmaceutical companies have a program that supplements the cost and, in some cases, provides it gratis. You can always look to Novartis' US website for more information.
I have no association with them, just providing more info to a fellow HAMB'r.
