Are 49 Chevy license plate surrounds cast or stamped steel?

Are 49 Chevy license plate surrounds cast or stamped steel? I would like to find one for my Fleetline but the only ones I have seen say they need to be replated. No one around here does the pot metal or cast stuff. How are the repop ones made?

The repops come made in steel or aluminum. I think briz sells the aluminum ones. most other places have the steel ones. stamped steel.

I saw one in Nightprowlers catalog. It just said chrome plated steel. Thanks

briz guards are alum. and if you polish them they never look as bright as chrome. the one i used on my 47 was chromed to match the bumper.
