I've got an opportunity to pick up a '50 Olds body really cheap- it's almost a basket case. I'd like to make a mild custom daily driver out of it, but I don't wanna spend the money updating the original chassis. Does anyone have an idea what late model chassis would fit under this car? I don't expect it to just drop on top of the new chassis, and I'm not afraid of cutting up this car to make it work. Any help would be appreciated! I did see that post a while back of the guy who built his ride in 3 weeks- that's the same thing I'm looking to do, but I can't find it now! Any help??

in my local auto trader i saw a 1950 oldsmobile for sale. it was sitting atop i think it said a 80's cadillac chassis. they only wanted 1 grand for the car.

How would a s 10 measure up.

Why don't you just clip it and put a late model rear axle in it. It'd be a lot of work to get another chassis to fit, plus cutting the floor pans out and making them work too. yikes!

Thats the best way and what I would do also.

It depends on the model. The 88 and 76 need a 119.5" WB chassis - mid-80s GM fullsize is that long, but they're too wide, the tires hit the fenders on turns. An S10 extended cab might do the job. They're easy to shorten or lengthen as needed.

But if the stock frame is there, I'd stick with it before a complete swap. The rear springs will take a lot of common rearends bolt-on and the front could be clipped as suggested.

Do the stock frame if you can.

I like the olds fastbacks.
