CLARKE welders???

I'm looking to pickup a welder and stumbled across clarke welders. The price on them seems really good but I don't know anyone who uses one. Everybody I know uses Lincoln and Miller. So does anybody own or know anybody with a Clarke? If so how has it been? Thanks

ive never heard of clarke. Ive used the millermatics and they are the best migs that ive ever used. Using a miller somebody who has never welded can use the miller welder and lay a awesome weld! They may be pricy, but you get what you pay for! Nate

I use mine almost every day.

Have gone thru about 20 10lbs spools and only hav had to change tips and reattach the liner once ( i got caught on the chassis and gave the torch a good yank)

Oh yeh it was second hand and already pretty used.

I have gotten every penny out of it and that was in the first weekend.

Consumables are readily avail(thanks to the net)

Today I spent $500 and I got a 220 Volt 180 amp Mig Welder, a welding cart, a self darkening helmet, some Flux core and a pair of gloves. Not to bad!!!!!

Miller and Lincoln may be the best, but to purchase one of those would of cost nearly a $1000 if not more and I'm tryin to save money and finsh my coupe.

I had a Clarke for 13 years.It was a 110 flux core 85amp box.
Never had a problem with it.Loaned it out to everyone.

HOBARTS till nowadays[they are millers now if its a 110 volt]Think Ill try Lincoln next time........Clarkes are low priced- right?look at the drive motor for the wire.if its a good sized motor -go for it- if it looks like a W/S washer squirter motor, Bail!!

I just finished doing alot of searching on welders and wondered about those myself. The price was almost too good on the Clarke and since I did'nt know anything about them It scared me away. They are priced really good.

I ended up with a Lincoln again from a place on ebay with pretty good prices. Indiana Oxygen co. was the name of the place and they sold Millers also. No tax and free shipping. I ordered it last Thurs night at about 11:00PM and had it by noon on Tues

I HAVE DEMOED ALMOST EVERY WELDER YOU CAN THINK OF. THE MILLER IS VERY USER FRIENDLY AND AFFORDABLE. BUT MY FAVORITE IS A SNAP-ON COMBO UNIT IT IS A MIG AND A SQUARE WAVE TIG ALL IN ONE. IT COMES IN A 110 OR 220 VERSION. I PAID 2500 FOR THE220 VERSION AND WILL NEVER REGRET IT. IF YOU ARE BUYING A NEW WELDER FOR LESS THAN A THOUSAND DOLLARS THEN IT IS NOT GOING TO BE BUILT TO LAST OR DO A QUALITY JOB FOR VERY LONG. I RECOMEND STAYING AWAY FROM THE SMALL 110 UNITS, THEY DONT PENETRATE AND ARE REALLY ONLY MADE FOR MODERN THIN SHEET METAL. I BOUGHT MY MILLER 185 AT A TRADE SHOW FOR 1200, THAT IS MORE THAN HALF OFF, AND IT WILL WELD 1/2 INCH STEEL IN ONE PASS. I GAVE IT TO MY BROTHER TO REPLACE HIS LINCOLN 120 AFTER THE WELDS BROKE FROM NO PENETRATION. YOU CAN GO CHEEP AND GET THE JOB DONE, OR SPEND A LITTLE EXTRA AND ONLY DO IT ONCE.
