I want to get rid of the line between the quarter extentions and the quarters on the grand prix. My idea is to JB weld them in place (bolted as well) and file them smooth. Any better solutions?
Get some 5"x8" index cards or similar heavy paper.
Cut out copies of the sides and surfaces of the pot metal part. tape all these "puzzle pieces" together to see if they fit sorta.
Transfer the flat paper shapes to 18 guage steel.
Weld them together and onto the car.
If you're a "beginner", make them slightly smaller so you can skin the whole thing with "bondo".
That way it won't need redoing next pot hole you go through.
If it involves a light, make sure you can still service the bulb.
(Yes I'm sure theres a half dozen of you guys who hasn't had yours crack, yet, bu they will.)

JB weld will crack? Me and some buddies have put pieces carbs back together with the shit and it's held for a couple of years. i figured if the shit would crack it definately would've done it by now with all that engine vibration and heat.
I agree with DrJ, if you want it permanent make it up out of steel and weld it in.
If you just want to slap it together and have it look o.k. for a while use the JB weld or epoxy putty, that way if you change your mind it will not only be easier to apply but REMOVE as well.

MuggyWeld makes a potmetal brazing rod that works great. Low melting point and super strong. Not sure if it adheres to steel but you can look it up on his website, just search on the name...
