Hey everybody, I'm a 28 year old shop rat from Michigan. I work in a plastics manufacturing facilty full time and they're sending me to school for Welding Engineering Technology. In my spare time I build racecars and wrench on my Monte SS I've had for the last ten years. I was married but my wife told me to choose between her or cars so I started on a new chaneled 1930 Model A roadster and divorced her. I've always like traditional hot rods but couldn't afford one so I startd bulding my own. I found a pile of model a roadster body parts in this farmer's barn, hacked up a brand new jig built chassis and Z'd it front and back, and I've been learning ever since. I just picked up a 30-31 A frame, a 59AB flathead, and a 40 Ford front end/steering for a hiboy roadster project I have in mind, but I gotta finish this one first. Other than that I have an enormous amount of respect for old timers and really appreciate them taking the time to educate ignorant dopes like me. This board is full of so much info and I'm looking to learn the most I can.

Hey guys, thanks seymor ditchin her was the best move I've made in a while. She got mad at me for burnouts in the driveway so she had to go. Oh well, she started dating a guy who drives a Geo. Thanks for the invite Rich, do you guys go to Pat & Jerry's? I have this Saturday off so I might take ya up on it. BTW, that 32 5 window is just bitchin! I love it. I saw that black deuce roadster with the chrome reverse wheels down at Billetproof Detroit last summer, beautiful car. Hey STEELRAT, I'm going to good old Delta college right now. I was in a mechanical design course right out of high school until I got my job offer in 1998 and I took it. A little over seven years later I see the writing on the wall, especially with the Delphi/GM closings so I figured if work will pay for it, I might as well try to earn a degree. It sucks working twelve hours over night, then going to school in the morning 4 days a week but hopefully it will pay off.

Lucky,
Yea we meet at Pat & Jerry's about 8:30 most every Saturday. Donzie, Hatch, FAB32 and I are the regulars. You need to talk to FAB32 about welding. He fabricated chassis for Howe Racing for many years. He has a shop on Salzburg just west of Mackinaw. I'll PM you Friday (you know about PM don't you;) ) and let you know for sure that we will be there. I sure we would all like to see your project too.

Yea it's Steve. If you stop by his shop right now you will find a bunch of British bike stuff. Maybe you better not stop by or you will be hooked on British bikes too:eek:

Thanks STEELRAT, I try NOT to be one of those young guys who thinks they know everything. I'd much rather listen to the guys who've been there and done that. Plus it saves some time and grief having someone show you the right way to do stuff. I have to hang a 1957 Ford 9" from a 1947 Ford spring. I've got to mount a 1940 Ford clutch/brake assy. with a hydraulic throwout, and a lot of other stuff I don't know how to do so I am looking forward to learning some new skills. As far as school this is an Associate Degree. If I want to go for a Bachelor's in Welding or Mechanical Engineering I'll have to go to a different school. I'm just trying to get a degree right now to get off the production floor and get into the prototyping/R&D department.

Hey Hatch, maybe I'll see ya Saturday. I'll have to talk with FAB32, I love going up to Howe's. In fact, I have the driver's door to the car he campaigned during the 1966 and 1967 seasons hanging in my garage. It was a black and gold #100 65 Chevelle. I also have all the blueprints to build the Brand X Javelin Howe raced in 1974. Chas sent them to me along with a 8X10" color pic of the car racing at Berlin, it used to hang up in their original shop. Chas and Ed are awesome guys.
