Finally got myself a rod project.....pic

Well even though I still have to finish my f-100 and have a 41 chevy coupe sitting in the weeds in a guys field, I got myself what I really want an A-Bone!!!

I got a hell of a deal on the bastard too! and with it I got a 2 nailheads with working dynaflow trannys (one is stuck and will become some garage art but the other is going in the a) and a bunch of other crap that will be pawned or traded for more desireable parts!!!!

Really want to start this baby when I go home for summer break....so i just want to run by a list of needs and will needs just incase someone has something!

-Front breaks (40 ford preferably)
-Front Axle/Spindles
-Some method of rear suspension (Transverse leaf prob)
-Deuce Grille (yeah i know everyone wants one of those and ill never get it)
-Multi carb intake for a nailhead (not sure of the size motor yet though)
-Carbs for above intake
-Etc..

Heres a pic...not bad, needs work but it was hella cheap! By the way noticed it had 6 lugs on the front wheel what would that be off of?

Pretty sure I saw a nailhead multi-carb setup on ebay not long ago... search for "rat rod". I find lots of interesting stuff that way... Like the gennie Halibrand quickchange still in orginal box, wrapped in 1970's newspaper that went for the AMAZING price of $2700 and change! That's nuts!

was that thing a coupe with the roof cut off? looks fun, the 6 lug front was maybe early chev p/u (40s).

i keep building all thes closed cars and cant wait to build another roadster again.

Hey that’s great!

I know you should be able to find the suspension stuff down there. If not I might be able to come up with a rear spring. If you are planning on making it real low I would just use coil overs. On my brothers T we used a transverse leaf and was just allot of work for something nobody will ever see.

Yep, coupe turned roadster, close enough to a roadster for me!

yeah i was thinking coil overs....just want something cheap and quick......

and yeah she'll be low....not rediculously low but low none the less!

congrats,and yea chevy had six lugs up to 46,I think.
If its early chevy spindles on it,I think u can switch to the 49-50 type,and get the five bolt pattern.

Cevy pick ups have had 6 lugs until '71 on 2wd and they still have'em on the 4wd. What kinda front suspension/axle does it have now?

Looks like a great start, but with the suicide doors I don't think it is a Model A.

(I'm not trying to piss you off - it'll just be easier to find parts for it if you know what the body is)

it is a model a, the doors were mounted suicide by a previous owner...

no it is on some modern frame i think.....chevy luv maybe...whatever it is it will need to be either replaced or camoflaged, probably the later because it would be a nice strong start....I'll probably just cut off the frame a little before the firewall then make some replica "A" or duece frame rails to stick out beyond the firewall no one will ever see the rest.

Another thing on it that I'm not really liking is the flat firewall....I'll need to throw some gauges or something on that to make it look good......and something around the edge so it doesn't just go straight from firewall to cowl if that makes any sence.

Good start on a project. Kugels Komponents still makes firewall-forward deuce rails, which would be perfect for what you're doing.

dan if the rear wheels come with it I wont be using them so yeah you can have first shot at them throw me a PM and make me an offer.....gonna be awhile before you can get them though....

and where can I find some info on those duece rails.....I look at their website, just saw a bunch of billet stuff.....
