American Hobbyist Insurance

So I got an email from Erica over at American Hobbyist Insurance a while back. They were interested in sponsoring The Jalopy Journal in an effort to get their name out there a little bit. At first I wasn’t all that interested as I don’t really promote products or services that I don’t use myself, but the timing couldn’t have been more perfect as I was getting ready to start a policy on my new coupe.

At the time, my ‘38 was insured with Hagerty and had been for the past seven years. They were always great with me, but a dollar saved is a dollar earned… right?

“What the hell,” I thought. “I’ll get a quote and see what’s what.”

So I clicked over to their online quote machine and gave them all the info they needed. Here is the comparison between Hagerty and AHI:

Hagerty
1938 Ford/1930 Ford (I listed both with values of $30k just for consistency)
Liability: $25,000/50,000
Liability PD: $25,000
Personal Injury: $2,500
Uninsured: $25,000/50,000
Property: $15,000
Deductible: $750

Total Annual Premium: $1154.00

American Hobbyist Insurance
1938 Ford/1930 Ford (I listed both with values of $30k just for consistency)
Liability: $50,000/100,000
Liability PD: $25,000

Uninsured: $50,000/100,000
Property: $15,000
Deductible: $500

Total Annual Premium: $775.00

Amazingly, a switch to AHI is going to save me almost four hundred clams a year! I called Erica back right away and they have committed to sponsoring The Jalopy Journal for a couple of months. To me, this is a prime example of how sponsorships should work… Good deals from good people.
