The Bocar Stiletto by Bob Carnes

The Bocar Stiletto by Bob Carnes

As a follow up to his successful XP series sports cars , Denver Colorado-based car builder Bob Carnes decided to take his same XP-6  front-mounted 471 blown SBC engine backed by a Borg-Warner T-10 transmission, and apply it to a purely evil race car for 1960 season. It was to be the ultimate track weapon, known as the Stiletto, now producing 500 horsepower with a roller cam and various tweaks.  The bodywork was a cross between a cut-down Lotus and a Bonneville streamliner with shrouded rear wheels. She was a scary-fast rocketship in a straight line, but unfortunately the “race only” torsion bar solid axle front end and short wheelbase made it a real handful in the corners. Its believed only three complete Stiletto racers were ever built, and they carried a whopping price tag of about $13,000 when they were new.
