Little “T” and a Big “A”

Little “T” and a Big “A”

Couldn’t resist snapping some shots of the latest car in the stable. My dad just came out to visit from Kansas City and brought a blast from the past with him: A Mini-Kars Inc. ‘Tin Lizzie’.  He was at a local auction about a month ago and couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted the little flivver for sale. You see, my sister had this same 1/3 scale car when we were little kids in Gladstone, Mo. around 1974. They have a steel body, polystyrene fenders and a Briggs and Stratton gas motor with forward and reverse. An adult can wedge into one, but unlike most modern Shriner cars, I think these were actually made for smaller people and kids. After a little elbow grease, some new tires and fresh gas, this little T fired up and was ready to hit the road again.

I don’t think my 3 year old daughter and 8 month old son have quite grasp the concept of their own miniature car yet, or how good they have it, but I can’t wait to teach them how to drive this thing. I’m going to wire up the lights, get a working horn, and a add a turtle deck… Just because its so dang cool. (I’ve pondered adding big and little whitewalls, and a chopped Deuce shell, but one thing at a time! Its their car, right?) To be honest, these days I’d rather tool around a park with my kids in the little T than take my own Model A to some boring car show.

Feel free to post your kids in their mini car if they’ve got one…
