San Francisco Hot Rod… 1951

I used to help run a few hot rod shows in Northern California, and one of my favorite jobs was receiving cool pictures with entry forms. Sometimes I would score an old photo of a family car, thrown in just for kicks. This image came in an envelope with a letter explaining a little bit about this sweet ride:

“Jay- As I mentioned, the Model A belonged to my Dad. He bought it around 1950. The car was black, he filled the fender wells and painted it (light) blue. The pic was taken sometime in 1951, the year it was in the Oakland Roadster Show. He got the hots for a Jag & sold the Ford a few years later.”

That’s all he wrote, but just pour over the photo and check out all the sweet subtle details: Kelsey Hayes wires, 36 handles, peaked and filled deuce shell, chrome split bones, chopped and slanted stanchions with a really nice white top….

Anybody know this car?
