1948 to 1950 Ford Trucks: Rubber

1948 to 1950 Ford Trucks: Rubber

So a friend of mine just got himself a brand spanking new 1950 Ford truck. For the most part, it’s bone stock and he is already gathering the parts needed to give the little hauler a lower stance. However, he isn’t quite sure yet what to do about tire size. It’s an important decision because if you go to small you leave an abyss in the huge wheel wells, but if you go to tall the truck tends to look like it’s riding on marshmallows.

My suggestion was to lower the truck first and then take measurements of the current rolling stock to decipher what he needs in a new tire height. I’m guessing he needs somewhere between a 28″ and 29″ tall tire. He wants to stick with a traditional 16″ wheel, so this would leave him with a 6.00×16 or a 6.50×16.

But ya know what? That’s guessing… I figure some of you fellas probably have a ’48 to ’50 Ford Truck that is already dropped and rolling the proper tire size. Wouldn’t pictures be just grand?

So, save my buddy and I some time and effort and post your Ford truck images – 1948 to 50 with 16″ wheels and bias tires only please.
