The Best Of…

The Best Of…

I spent most of last night getting all the 1951 H.A.M.B. Calendar orders ready for Denise’s consumption. It’s a mindless task of copy and pasting, typing, etc… so I had plenty of time to just sit and think about The Jalopy Journal and what all we have accomplished in the past year.

Amazingly, The Jalopy Journal will be turning 11 years old next week. I’m sure I’ll have a birthday post when the time comes, but I’m beginning to think that 2006 was our best year to date – for me anyway… And it really boils down to bringing back The Jalopy Journal as an editorial source.

For years, I let The Jalopy Journal sit and gather mold while I concentrated on the H.A.M.B. and my ‘real’ career. I lost site of where my passion really lies and it started to get to me. The instant I typed that first post I felt that same feeling I had in 1995. It was fun again.

Now, this is not to say that it is always fun for you guys! I’m the first to admit that I don’t write with the sharpest pencil, but sometimes you do things for yourself and hope others will get just a percentage of the value you get. I sure hope ya’ll did…

Anyway, it was while I was thinking about all of this when I began to ponder about the posts that were most enjoyable for me to write this year. The following is what I came up with:

Design & Inspiration Part 1 & Part 2
I love this series of posts and I’m sure I will be doing more… Traditional hot rodding is innovative.

The History of The Whitewall
I picked this one simply because it shows me how far I’ve come from a lot of different perspectives.

About Done, About Time…
Cole’s ’36 still ranks as the most important car built in the past 30 or 40 years.

Land Speed Art And The Bad Guys
This is a subject that I am really interested in. In fact, I’ve often thought about writing a book about the enemy and inspiration. This a short post, but there is so much to the subject.

Where Did Harry Go?
Someone needs to find his style and make it stick. Subtle.

Family Tradition
Cuz I owe everything to my dad. He’s my best pal and continues to be the driving force behind everything I do.
