Wavy Evan’s ’40 Coupe

Wavy Evan’s ’40 Coupe

About six or seven years ago, Wavy Evans dropped by the Atomic World HQ in his ’40 coupe. I remember thinking then that it was a perfect little car. The paint spoke to me, the interior was perfect, the stance was right, etc… Since then, I’ve seen the car a few times puttin’ around Dripping Springs but have never had the chance to catch up with Wavy.

That changed last week.

Wavy dropped off the coupe at Rex Rods for a quick service that includes an upgraded cam in the fairly fresh Tardel built motor as well as a t-5 conversion. While he was here, he also filled us in on the car’s history. It was actually originally hot rodded in the 1950’s in Austin, TX:

From there, the car moved to the East Coast where it lived next door to a former US president. And then after years of cajoling, Wavy was able to talk the owner into selling. He moved the car back to Texas and has had it ever since. And it’s no wonder – this is one of the good ones.

In any case, my plan is to cover as much of the service as possible on this thread. I am, however, trying like hell to make it to the Hot Rod Hill Climb, so there might be a slight interruption. Stay tuned.
