Back to Bonneville… Vintage Color Film!

It’s been a short while since I’ve posted about Bonneville, but in light of the recent progress to really start saving the salt, it seems like a good time to show something cool. Below you’ll find some beautifully shot, color 8mm footage from the Speed Trials presumably captured between 1950 and 1953. Honestly, can you think of a more perfect time to be an eye witness to Speed Week? I marvel at few things while drooling over this footage from a simpler time; First the lack safety and infrastructure, not only with the race cars and their drivers, but also the support crew, spectators and SCTA staff. Secondly, apparently anything could be a push vehicle, including hot rods!

Apologies if this footage has been shared before, and also note that the film repeats its self after the first 3 minutes…
