The Bill Breece Coupe

The Bill Breece Coupe

Now this is cool… You know the Bill Breece coupe, right? Considered by many to be the best looking full-fendered deuce ever built, the Bill Breece coupe graced the cover of the August, 1956 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. The feature came shortly after Bill drove the coupe from his home in Ohio to the 1955 Nats in Great Bend, Kansas where the car ran well and turned a lot of heads. Later that year, the coupe also won it’s class at the Motorama.

Essentially, it was a very nicely crafted car (even by today’s standards) that won a lot of trophies and hauled some serious ass. Olds powered, purple, and gorgeous…

Here’s the feature that HRM did in ’56:

Anyway, it doesn’t get much cooler than that. Well, not until you get a letter in the mail from one of Bill’s pals that includes four color photos of the Breece coupe that have never been published. I’ll let Paul Flynn tell the story:

I love old Hot Rod books as much as the next guy, but nothing beats Kodachrome fellas. Nothing.

Special thanks to Paul Flynn for the note and the images. They made my week!
