Alfred A. Berton’s ’32 Cabriolet

Alfred A. Berton’s ’32 Cabriolet

A few months back, I posted about my infatuation with heavily chopped ’32 Ford cabriolets and asked you guys to post some of your favorites. “Harm’s Way” posted the cabriolet featured above and I’ve been on a hunt for more information ever since. My first stop, obviously, was Google. An image search took me to Kustomrama.com and a short article with no additional photographs, but a little more information.

Apparently, the car was owned and built by one Alfred A. Berton and featured a number of high dollar speed parts. The Merc motor was outfitted with a Harmon & Collins ignition, a Weiand 3-deuce intake, and reworked heads – good enough for a rumored 200 horses. To get the car incredibly low for the time, Alfred z’ed the frame and fitted a 4″ dropped Dago axle. And to stop it all, the car ran Kinmont disc brakes all the way around.

Still, the money maker here is the Carson top. And surprisingly, being that Alfred was an East Coast guy, it’s a real Carson top supplied by Glen Houser of the Carson Top Shop.

And that’s really all I got… Does anyone out there have any other photos of this car?

Editor’s Note: If you are into Cabs, stay tuned… We have a great feature coming later this week.
