The Dream Cars for 1955…

Here we are coming up on 2015, and it’s always upon the pending New Year that I reflect on the cars ending in that same last number in previous decades. It goes without saying that 1945 was the last year of World War II and new civilian Automobile production was still on hold. For 1955, however, we were right in the middle of a decadent decade for American cars with so many significant new models premiering that year. I’m going to pen a few stories centered around milestone ’55 models, and to kick it off, here’s an article from the February 1955 Popular Mechanics ‘Annual Auto Section’ about the Dream Cars premiering that same year. Its a very GM-heavy selection, which one would expect with the traveling Motorama madness in full swing, but it’s odd that not a single Mopar or FoMoCo Concept car is even mentioned… Just the very obscure Packard Request thrown in for good measure…
