How do you Spread the Traditional Hot Rod Gospel?

That is the Jalopy Journal mission statement, right? “Spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods and customs to hoodlums worldwide.”  In all honesty, I try to engage not just hoodlums, but the general public (especially younger generations) in what I love about our particular kind of cars. Taking the time to explain what’s a hot rod as opposed to a rat rod, running bias ply rather than radial tires, and why Flathead versus every other V-8 motor. The purity and simplicity of a correct AV8 highboy or the drop dead gorgeous look of a Sam Barris-inspired Merc.  It’s not just a matter of having an old-timey taste in Jalopies, or being trapped in some idealized automotive past… it’s understanding about why these pioneering guys got it right the first time. Its the same reason we let kids sit in our rumble seat at a local show or offer to take a picture of an inquisitive stranger sitting in our chopped car. Take the time to do it, my friends- It pays dividends to spread the love of our world. You might help influence a young guy to build a Shoebox Ford instead of crapping out another modified Honda Civic. Can I get an Amen?
