5-Spokes

5-Spokes

So I went to the L.A. Roadster Show this past weekend and I had planned on writing about the adventure this morning, but I left my camera and the memory card within at home. As such, I’ll save that one for another day. In any case, while in Southern California I picked up something I have been looking for for a few months now – a 1964 Ford F100. It’s nothing special, just good old truck… and I don’t have any plans to do much to her. She’s gonna be a daily driver and a work horse here at The Jalopy Journal world HQ.

One of the things I would like to do, however, is get some appropriate rolling stock on board. Right now, the truck features a set of 5-spokes that could have come from one of the many companies that produced such a wheel from the 1960’s until today. The only clue I have to the origin of the wheels are the rather odd (but kind of cool) caps stamped with the E-T brand:

Of course, these could have (and probably were) added somewhere down the road and there’s no telling who actually made the wheels – which is cool, but I do face a bit of a problem. On the back of the truck, these wheels appear as 15×8’s. On the front, a pair of 14″ wheels roll down the road. Most folks are fine with the mismatch, but visually it disturbs me a bit and I would like to find a pair of 15″ wheels for the front to match the back. The only issue is that I’m not sure what I should be looking for. That’s where you guys come in.

To be perfectly honest, my 5-spoke historical knowledge isn’t all that refined. I know lots of companies made a straight spoke wheel similar to this, but I don’t really know the particulars. I’m hoping one of the mag fanatics out there can take a glance and fill me in.

What do I got here fellas?
