In preparation for the new redesign coming very soon, we’ve re-organized the H.A.M.B. and taken it back to its roots. About six months ago, we divided the H.A.M.B. into a number of sections focusing on the different types of cars that the H.A.M.B. is dedicated to. In a sense, this was a long term test… And the test went ok, but we continued to have folks post in the wrong forum no matter what we as moderators did.  So, something had to be done.

The only thing is, I really grew to love the dedicated forums for period correct hot rods and customs. So much so, that I know I can’t live without them now. Those two little forums are what the Jalopy Journal and the H.A.M.B. are all about at its very core and keeping that focus is VERY important to me.

At the same time, however, I don’t want to alienate those folks that aren’t completely focused on the absolute period correct cars. The problem is, having a “traditionally inspired” forum just got to be too much for us as moderators. As mentioned, people just couldn’t figure out where to post their threads. Shit got confusing.

So, we’ve changed. Here is how it works:

1. We have kept the forums dedicated to traditional hot rods and traditional customs. These forums are reserved for period correct cars only. Here you will find only topics dedicated to tech, build threads, features, and history.

2. The Hokey Ass Message Board is back as the main forum. You can see it here. This forum holds threads about traditionally inspired hot rods and customs just like it has for the last 20 years. Threads about event coverage, art, history, etc… is all here.

Of course, to keep everyone happy when you view this forum you will also see the threads posted in the period correct forums as well. So, in a sense, this is bringing back the HAMB exactly as it was before we started this test 6 months ago.

Cool, right? It might seem confusing at first, but it’s not. Just start using it and you will see how it works…

A few notes:

1. Please keep in mind that the H.A.M.B. is dedicated to traditional hot rods and customs. Why we will continue to show some leeway in regards to modernities, this is not a street rod or contemporary hot rod forum. Please take a moment to review our revised rules and guidelines found here.

2. You will note that all forums require you to choose a prefix now. These prefixes are:

– Hot Rods
– Customs
– Event Coverage
– Art & Inspiration
– Folks of Interest
– Motion Pictures
– Technical
– Projects
– Features
– History

If your post doesn’t fit neatly into one of the above prefixes, it probably doesn’t belong on the H.A.M.B. Note that there is no prefix for the weather, rants about eBay, or how badly you hate your local parts counter guy. This ain’t Facebook fellas…

3. You do understand what prefixes are for, right? If not, read this… They kind of rule.

3. We are right in the middle of preparing our databases for the coming redesign. As such, you might experience some interruptions here and there. I apologize for that, but hang in there. Shit is about to get crazy.

Thanks guys… Enjoy the forum!
