In the early 1960′s, Bill Dake and his buddy Jon would pester their parents relentlessly almost every week. If they made enough noise, they figured, their folks would almost certainly drop them off at the drags for a day of speed and power that weekend. Lucky for us, Bill liked to take along his little Brownie camera to capture the moments on the film. It’s been over 40 years and many of those shots were lost, but recently Bill was digging around in an old closet and found a few surviving photos.
Included are a number of great old race cars. I think my favorite might be the Swiss Cheese Vern Massie and Don Wilbur Vickie.
