The Last Ride…

The Last Ride…

I don’t know why I though old modified ‘professional cars’ were so cool when I was a kid. Maybe it was seeing the lowered ’59 Caddy ambulance ‘Ecto 1′ in Ghostbusters, or the Harold and Maude Jaguar E Type Hearse. In later years they’ve gotten a bad wrap as the kitschy ‘goth mobile’ of choice, but 90% of them that I have seen are later 60s or 70s Cadillac models. What still trips my trigger are the 50s and early 60s Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac professional models- You just never see these babies around anymore. Miller Meteor, Flxible, and other coachbuilders custom fabricated these mammoth beasts with quality lead work, upgraded brakes and heavy duty cooling systems. Imagine the impromptu card games you could set up in the back at car shows with this much space. Just lower it all the way down, shave off some trim moldings, remove the gurney, and your good to go for the long haul!
