News Reels & Racing Clips 1930s – 1950s

Today’s film clip is actually a whole series of news reels and interesting pre & post war racing film clips that I think you’ll really enjoy. This is actual only part 5 in a complete 8 part series of these vintage racing compilations! This one stood out for the first three short segments alone: We open on midget track action, going right into Soap Box Derby Nationals (look at the size of that crowd) and directly onto Captain George Eyston driving the 73 liter beast ‘Thunderbolt’ at Bonneville in 1937. Its all so seamless, and uses the same news commentator, so it’s hard to tell at what point all these individual clips were all put together. Later we see a brief run down on historic Indy 500 events. This all adds up to a really nice dash around the world of racing in one short video- Sort of like vintage channel surfing!!!
