I think about cars more than anyone I know. If I’m at work, I’m thinking about cars. If I’m on the way to the grocery story, I’m thinking about cars. If I’m taking out the trash, I’m thinking about cars. If I’m… Hell, you get the point. I am and have been pretty obsessed by cars ever since I can remember. Quite literally, cars are my life. More than anything other than family, they have made me who I am. I don’t get burned out, because I don’t know any other way to live or think. It’s just who I am. I’ve learned to accept that.

I do, however, realize that in the grand scheme of things these old cars of ours don’t mean shit to the world. They could all go away and realistically, the world wouldn’t be all that different for most. That’s a hard thought to accept, but we all know that it’s true – right?

The thing is, on some level these old cars do make the world a better place for the small group of people that cherish them the way that we do. And we all have the people that build them to thank for that. It’s easy to forget sometimes when you are tinkering away in your garage or reading the latest post on the HAMB… Much of our world is based on the guy that sacrifices profitability and lifestyle for a passion to build the best cars he can. This output gives us all something to shoot for, to dream about, and to inspire our own cars and projects.

I’m struggling to put this into words eloquently, but the point is this… This world of ours is small and it sits on a foundation created by guys that give more than they take. It’s not about money or legacy or anything else – its about the cars. The cars that mean the world to us.

I don’t know Brad Masterson at all. I’ve never met him and have only talked to him electronically twice. I do, however, know he’s had a rough year and as a result, has been taking his talents and his reach for granted. I think he is questioning the point of it all.

The point of this post is to hopefully show him that yeah – old cars don’t mean much to most, but to us they mean the world. And fellas like him and his work represent the foundation of everything we do.
