Seventeen years ago today, I uploaded an html file to the servers at Prodigy and The Jalopy Journal was born. I had been toying around with HTML at school and wanted to do something car related with it. I was actually at home in Midland, TX on Christmas break when I finally found the time to do it. I couldn’t think of a name for my “homepage” and my mom came up with “The Jalopy Journal.” I didn’t even know what a Jalopy was, but I liked the sound of it.
The H.A.M.B. wasn’t born until sometime later…
Anyway, Christmas always makes me think of that time about seventeen years ago when I sat at our family’s kitchen table and, unbeknownst to me, changed my life forever.
‘Tis the season fellas… From Midland, TX.
I hope you all have a good one and we’ll see you next week.
