Chicago To Bonneville

In 1950, Byron Boji and a few of his buddies loaded up in Chicago and headed for Bonneville. You can only imagine the excitement as a bunch of mid-western hot rodders prepared to be injected into the very best of west coast hot rodding. And when they landed on the martian surface of the salt flats? Pure pandemonium – I’m sure of it.

These pictures were sent over by Byron’s son, Kevin. His older brother remembers that his father raced a flathead ford, but was down considerably on speed and power to the more immersed west coasters. Regardless, Byron did a damn fine job with the camera and we are all the better for it.
