Classy Chassis Concours d’ Elegance

Classy Chassis Concours d’ Elegance

So my buddy, Jim Jard, helps put together a stuffy concours show in Houston every year. The event pulls all kinds of high dollar cars from just about everywhere – classic Ferraris, Alfas, Duesenbergs, etc… But Jim’s primary role with the show is to roughen up the edges a bit by organizing a section that features a few good ole American Hot Rods. He does so with the grace of a sledge hammer and the determination of a pit bull.

For instance, this year’s feature hot rod is none other than the Doane Spencer Roadster. For those of you in California, it might not be that big of a deal to see the best ’32 ever built hanging out at a car show. The car’s caretaker, Bruce Meyer, does a damn fine job of getting the car out and about so people can enjoy the best that history has to offer. BUT, if you live in Texas (or any surrounding state for that matter) this is a pretty rare opportunity to see the Doane Spencer Roadster with your own eyes. If this is something you’ve never done before, you simply haven’t lived.

In any case, the Classy Chassis Concours d/ Elegance is going down at Reliant Stadium on June 11th and 12th. You can get all of the details here.
