The Gary Howard Fire… Spare a dime?
I’ve written about Gary Howard quite a bit in the past. I’ve followed him as a customizer since I was a kid and now call him a good friend. I just love the man. He’s quiet. He’s unassuming. He’s genuine. He’s everything that a fella should be when he is on top of his game. And that’s exactly what Gary Howard is… Tops.
And that’s why I’m so damned sad right now… See, on Wednesday night a fire broke out in the building that houses Gary’s paint booth. Something went electrically haywire in the attic late at night and my hero woke up to a smoldering mess where his paint shop used to be. The building is a total loss as is the Merc project that was housed within. Gary didn’t have this one coming. He didn’t deserve this luck. And so, the Texas clan is gettin’ busy in an effort to make wrong things right.
We’ve ran a number of benefits on the H.A.M.B. in years past and though I’ve contributed, I’ve never called one of my own. This is a first for me and this one means a whole lot fellas. I’m coming to you with my hat in hand and asking for a favor. Our friend needs help and we are gonna give it to him whether he wants it or not.
Can ya spare a dollar? Hell, how about a fifty cent piece? Every little bit helps.
You can contribute to the Gary Howard fund here. A whole bunch of folks in Texas would be much obliged.
***UPDATE: A number of guys have stepped forward to auction off some pretty incredible shit for Gary. You can view and bid on those auctions here.
