Survivors On The H.A.M.B.

I’ve been a bit under the weather lately and have spent a lot of my down time just browsing both old and current posts on the H.A.M.B. I’ve found myself kind of searching out posts by theme and studying where we’ve been and where we are going. Through a natural progression, I decided to look at some of threads on the H.A.M.B. that have focused on survivors cars.

It’s pretty amazing what we’ve been able to dig up. Here’s a small sample:

Kisam’s ’32 3w
This is one of those threads that I had seen, but had never gotten around to really reading. I did so last night and was blown away. What makes Kisam’s survivor so fascinating is that we get to watch him restore it almost in live action. You owe it to yourself to check out part 1 and part 2.

Gunswanted’s ’32 Roadster
This one was posted more recently… It’s one of those cars that would make you cringe if it weren’t for the fact that it is just do damned real. A hacked up roadster that was done then. Charming. Check it out here.

Tom’s ’39 Ford Phaeton
I’m in love with this car… Not only is it just right, but the historical documentation that lives with the car is just flat-out insane. If you check out just one of these threads, this is the one it should be.

The Hawaiian ’32
Just some random shots of one killer little roadster that started life on the islands. This thread was started years ago, but I still catch myself thinking about this little car every now and then. It’s got texture. Check it out.

Retro Rides Does A Roadster
Another restoration thread where you get to follow along as a survivor is saved. Glorious. Check it out here.

The ’32 5w
This is another one of my favorites. This ’32 belongs to one of Limey Steve’s customers and the damn thing is 100% BOSS. IF you haven’t seen images of this one, stop and check them out now.

’33 “Gasser” From Texas
Who knows if this is even a survivor? It’s an old car with some history… maybe. Either way, I see the profile of this car in my head a lot. There are only a couple of blurry pics of it on the thread, but they are certainly worth a click.

Hemi Powered ’40
I bet a lof of you fellas missed this one… It’s just an old hot rod with a great motor and an unknown history. I dream of finding cars like this. Nothing to live up to… Check it out here.

1956 Chevrolet
Survivor race cars are cool too… And this one just had some history recently discovered. Read along here.

Every Dog Has His Day
Man… Here’s another little roadster that just eats at my very being. History oozes from every poor of this car. It’s perfect. Check out all of the details.

Channeled Coupe
It’s the little things that make a survivor so favorable. Who in the hell puts a plexi hood on a ’32? Some dude back in 1955 I guess… Dig it.

The Winfield Truck
Who could forget this one? To be honest, this truck has never done much for me. I was indifferent… Until I saw the read deal in person after the restoration. This has got to be one of the best restoration threads in the history of the H.A.M.B.

The Cockroach
I think the Cockroach was actually discovered on the H.A.M.B. and then changed owners a few times before Mr. Ito restored it to the nines. Here’s an early post.

The Little Monster
This is an example of a car that needs to be torn down and gone through. It has such a charming profile… as in sinister. And who doesn’t love that flathead. Check it out.

Stephen’s Roadster
Another dream find really… An east coast style roadster missing nothing.

Bob’s Dumb Life
I think Bob said he would never sell this thing. A year or so later and I think he has… Check out the thread he posted after the find.

’33 Drag Car
Is it me or does Whitey always find the old hot rods? This sedan is one of many and might be my favorite. I dig the rear fenders the most. Check it out.

60’s Roadster
Another whacky survivor. Dig on the Buick port hole antennae frenching job. Crazy.

A Storm
This is a recent one that showed up at the Jalopyrama. I’m taken… This is my kind of car in every way.

……………………

I could go on forever, but I am getting tired… That’s it.

I… Must… Stop…

Maybe I’ll continue this theme at another time. Ya’ll have a good weekend!
