It was 1966 when three hot rod impassioned Aussies headed to the states for what would be a trip of a lifetime. The resulting photos and stories are nothing less than incredible. Check it out.

I know this is pretty much entirely off-topic, but I just can’t help myself. Finkbuilt, a blog that I really dig, recently published a little article on the history of these crazy contraptions. I think these guys were getting air a few years before the Barris & Roth show cars of the 60′s… Cool, huh?
It amazes how the Friday Art Show tradition has grown. We have people that register on the H.A.M.B. simply to be a part of it these days… Pretty damn cool to have so much talent gathered for the simple reason of enjoying each other’s work. This week’s show is pretty damned impressive. All the regulars have contributed and [...]
Just over 200mph on the salt. Enjoy the view and the sounds… For more, check out the North of 49 website here.
Glenn takes us on a photographic tour of the Don Garlits museum… If you haven’t been, this is post could very well be the next best thing. Check it out.
Two model-a coupes. Two Hemis. Two builders that I have a ton of respect for… We’ve talked about Bass’s and Loudpedal’s coupe a number of times on The Jalopy Journal and they were both feature builds on the H.A.M.B., but this is the first time we have had the opportunity to see the cars together. [...]
What looks like a pretty straight ’41 merc with a nice little 331 Hemi can be had for a mear $7500. Not a bad deal at all considering all the good stuff this old car comes with… And at that price you’ll be able to afford that Olds waterfall grille up front and still have [...]
Now this is a mid to late 50′s custom that I can truly dig on. Laurie Peterson of Canada Customs and Hot Rods put it together for “Custom54” over a period of 365 days. Packard tails out back, Olds buckets up front, ’56 Chevy front and rear bumpers, rounded hood corners, subtle chop, nice shave (leaving the [...]
You might remember Rikster’s first report on the Barry Mazza collection found here. Well, it seems like he has dug his head back into the archives and found a few more shots for us to enjoy. This batch is incredible and includes some great candid color shots. Enjoy fellas…
Through the years we’ve had some pretty amazing articles pop up here on The Jalopy Journal. The following is just a few of them:
The story of Tom Cobbs, his legacy, and his hot rod roadster. Read: Part 1, Part 2, or Part 3.
The story of a set of lost photos that literally take us all back into time. Read: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, or Part 4.
Comparing and contrasting three very different cars with three very different purposes in life. Read It >>
This post is actually a continuation of two other posts that were written in 2006 (Part 1 & 2). The stuff you guys came up with is breathtaking.
Gary is one of my heroes and after interviewing him, I got to check off an item from my dream list. Read It >>
